Millions of hearts have been broken all around the world this week with the news that actor Matthew McConaughey married his long time love, Camila Alves in a traditional Catholic ceremony in the groom’s home state of Texas last week-end.
But after the traditional religious formalities which were presided over by a Catholic Benedictine monk, it’s no surprise that the wedding comprised a three day, two night celebration, including celebrity guests Reese Witherspoon and Woody Harrelson, and an all night dance party.
For the ceremony, the bride wore a gorgeous form fitting lace gown with an illusion neckline by Brazilian designer Ducarmo Castelo Branco, paired with a breathtaking cathedral length lace mantilla veil. Her beautiful diamond headpiece and jewellery was by famed Tinseltown jeweller Neil Lane.
The celebrity couple’s first dance song was “Forever and Ever, Amen” by Randy Travis. The couple partied with their guests until 3am! “We partied through the sunrise and only went to bed because we needed shade.” McConaughey told the magazine.
Matthew and Camilla’s two young children, Levi and Vida, were flower girl and ring bearer during their ceremony. The bride carried a bouquet of cattleya orchids and artichoke flowers by florist Cowgirls & Flowers. The traditional Catholic ceremony included scripture readings and performances of biblical psalms set to original music by John Cougar Mellancamp.
The couple concluded their ceremony with an epic “movie sized” kiss, and then made their way to the string-lit reception area to start the party. Camila’s beautiful cathedral length mantilla veil really added to the “drama” of the moment.
