Q. Should I be concerned about buying my wedding dress over the internet?
A. Yes and No. You should only be concerned about buying your wedding dress over the internet if you are dealing with an overseas website. If you purchase your wedding dress from overseas and: it doesn't turn up, looks nothing like the one you ordered, or, is really bad quality, there is very little you can do about it. Australian consumer protection laws do not apply in other countries. All Australian retailers must abide by the Trade Practices Act. Customers who purchase their wedding dress from the Wedding Dress Express website, have the same rights and protection as any other customer who deals with any other store in Australia. We are 100% Australian owned, managed and hosted.
Q. Why are your prices so low?
A. Wedding Dress Express knows how to make things easy on your wedding budget. Our prices are low because we are an internet store, we deal direct with the manufacturers, and we do not have a physical showroom. This means we do not pay heavy operating overheads paid by retail bridal shops, such as staff wages, sales commissions, shop rent and inventory costs. We pass all of these savings onto our customers through reduced retail prices. This means you can save hundreds, if not thousands, on the cost of your wedding dress and bridesmaids outfits, just by buying online.
Q. What's the difference between your Ready To Wear (R2W), Made2Order (M2O) and Made2Measure (M2M) wedding dresses?
A. R2W wedding dresses are mass produced and are already made before you order it. Delivery on our R2W wedding dresses is about 2 weeks from the day you order, so they're great for brides who are in a hurry or just want to keep things simple. All of our R2W wedding dresses can be found in the R2W Wedding Dresses section and are priced from only $198. You will know if you are looking at a R2W Wedding Dress because the size chart will appear next to the dress on the product page.
All of the other wedding dresses shown in our website collections are Made2Order. This means that we make your dress from scratch after you order it. The design of the dress is as shown in the pictures on our website, and we make the dress to your own individual measurements. Small alterations can be made to the style at the time you place your order eg. you might decide you don't want the long train shown in the picture and you want the dress to be floor length instead; or you may wish to add straps to a strapless gown. We are happy to make these design changes for our customers at no extra charge - we just ask that you specify these changes at the time you place your order. Your wedding dress will be custom made to your measurements and height, and we guarantee your wedding dress will fit you perfectly from the first time you try it on.
Made2Measure wedding dresses are created in our Bridal Design Studio, where 'wedding dreams come true'. The designs can be your own creation, inspired by a designer wedding dress or a combination of 2 or 3 dresses and are custom made into our customer's dream wedding dress.
Price guide: Ready 2 Wear $198 to $500; Made2Order $450 to $890; Made2Measure $300 to $1500.
Q. So what can I expect for $790 instead of $2,000?
A. Your wedding dress will be brand new, custom-made and soundly constructed, with finished seams and hand-finished beadwork. You should also expect the appropriate amount of foundation layer construction, like boning, proper facings and linings. Your wedding dress has been made to your specifications and we guarantee it will fit you perfectly.
Q. When can I expect my dress to arrive?
A. Delivery on all Made2Order and Made2Measure Wedding, Bridesmaid and Special Occasion Dresses takes 4-6 weeks (from the day you place your order) to any Australian address. Shipments to other countries may take 6-8 weeks. We strongly recommend that you order your wedding dress from us no less than 8 weeks prior to your wedding day, no matter where you live. Delivery on all R2W dresses, Bridal Headwear, Jewellery and Lingerie is 2-3 weeks, and all Bridal and Evening Shoes is 4 weeks from the date you place your order.
Q. What about shipping and insurance?
A. All our prices include shipping and insurance to Australian addresses only. Australia Post will require your signature and ID to deliver your packages. If no-one is there, they will leave a calling card and you can collect the packages from your nearest Australia Post office. Shipping and insurance to other overseas destinations may be significantly more expensive, especially if an express service is required. Please email us for details on international shipping rates and insurance prior to placing your order.
Q. What happens if my packages arrive damaged?
A. All goods are inspected and then packed securely for shipment to our customers. In the unlikely event that your goods are damaged in transit, you will need to return the packages to your nearest Australia Post office as soon as possible for insurance purposes. You will also need to email us within 48 hours of receiving the packages with photographs of the damage attached. We can then fix the situation for you as soon as possible.
Q. If I want to make slight changes to your designs, is there an extra fee?
A. No, there are no extra fees for slight changes to any of our Made 2 Order wedding dresses. Any changes you wish to make are subject to our prior approval, so you will need to call/email us before ordering.
Q. I am a larger bride being size 20+. Do you make plus size wedding dresses?
A. Yes, all of our wedding dresses are custom-made to fit any sized bride including plus sizes for the same standard price. It does not matter what size or shape you are, we guarantee that your wedding dress will fit you perfectly.
Q. Do I need a PayPal account to order from Wedding Dress Express?
A. No.
Q. Do you have Layby?
A. Yes! Call/email us if you'd like to start a layby account, or refer to the Layby section on our website for details. There's no deposit, no fees, no interest, no debt, no worries! Take up to 12 months to pay for your wedding day outfit or package. We've set up layby to help our customers budget for their weddings. It's just like a credit card, but without the extra 18%, and no debt or credit checks required. Very easy.
Q. Is there anywhere I can try the dresses on?
A. Wedding Dress Express is Australia's leading online bridal store and we do not have a physical shop. We've eliminated all these unnecessary costs and we pass these savings onto our customers through reduced price tags. We receive many wholesale inquiries from bridal retailers wanting to sell our goods in their stores, however, they would need to add $500 - $1,000 to the price of each wedding dress.
Q. Do you offer a warranty?
A. Yes, we carry a full manufacturers warranty on all of our products which covers all manufacturing defects. All goods are inspected for defects prior to shipment to our customers. In the unlikely event that you receive a defective product from us, please send us an email explaining the problem within 48 hours of receipt. When the goods have been reinspected and confirmed defective by us, customers are offered a full refund, replacement or exchange. Q. What about exchanges, replacements and refunds?
A. We follow all the consumer guidelines in the Trade Practices Act. Customers are entitled to an exchange, replacement or refund if their goods are defective, damaged or unavailable. All goods are inspected by us for damage/defects prior to shipment and we do not intentionally dispatch damaged/defective goods to our customers. If you receive goods from us that are damaged/defective, you are entitled to an exchange, replacement or refund. If you order a product from us which has for some reason become unavailable, you are entitled to a replacement of equal value or refund. We are unable to offer exchanges or refunds on any of our products if you simply change your mind, find a similar product cheaper elsewhere, get pregnant, cancel your wedding, or for any other reason.
